Original Founder of M&E Engineers Passes
M&E Engineers regrets to announce the passing of its founder, Donald Campbell. Don passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on December 21, 2018 in Easton, MD.
Donald was born in Riverhead, Long Island, NY in 1928 and graduated with a mechanical engineering degree from the State University of New York. Don served in the U.S. Navy at Westover Air Force Base, MA from 1950 to 1954. He married Jo Ann in June 1952. After working at Lawrence Picone Constructors, he started a New Jersey branch office for Jansen & Rogan Consulting Engineers in Newark, NJ. Upon retiring in 1984, he was asked by NJ Bell to come out of retirement, which led him to start M&E Engineers in Monmouth Junction, NJ.
NJ Bell became part of Bell Atlantic in 1983, which became part of Verizon in 2000. Verizon continues to be a major client for M&E Engineers. Bill Amann joined Don at M&E in 1987, and took over the company in 1990, when Don and Jo Ann relocated to Maryland, where Don enjoyed sailing and competing in the Herring Island Sailing Fleet.
Don is survived by his wife, Jo Ann; his three children and their spouses; one grandson, seven granddaughters, and seven great-grandchildren. Don was an outstanding engineer and a true gentleman. M&E Engineers is proud to continue his legacy.
